A Fire Weather watch has been upgraded to a Red Flag warning for the Cold Springs Fire. Temperatures in the upper 70’s, relative humidity of 11-14%, and sustained winds of 10-15mph are forecasted. Isolated torching and smoldering were observed overnight due to lower humidity values. Crews will continue to secure the fire perimeter and islands of unburned vegetation. Mop-up around structures will continue in all subdivisions. Air resources will support firefighters as needed. The Cold Springs Fire has burned 528 acres and eight residences have been lost. The reduction in acreage is due to field observer personnel walking the entire perimeter of the fire. The fire is 25% contained.

Due to limited growth and reduced heat within the perimeter of the fire, some fire resources will begin to demobilize today at the end of their shift.

Residents not directly impacted by the Cold Springs Fire in the Saint-Anton Highlands HOA will be allowed to return to their homes today. Residents along the northern and southern perimeters of the fire will be allowed to return to their homes for a limited duration during the day today. Residents are asked to drive carefully in and around their neighborhoods as firefighters will be working across the fire.

Updated Road Closures: Boulder Canyon is closed from Summer Road to the Town of Nederland, and east along Cold Springs Road from the intersection of the Cold Springs Road and the Peak-to-Peak Highway.

Road closures and evacuations are being constantly evaluated to determine continued needs or ability to open roads and re-populate evacuated areas. Up to date information can be found at www.BoulderOEM.com/emergency-status/. The goal of this continuous evaluation is to open roads and allow residents, firefighters, and emergency cooperators to be in the area safely together, as well as return residents to their homes as quickly and safely as feasibly possible.

Evacuations: Mandatory evacuations remain in effect for residents who live in the Bonanza Mountain Estates. See the Incident Map for more specific evacuation locations.

Special Note: A community meeting will be held at the Nederland High School at 1 p.m. A media briefing will be held at 5 p.m. at the Teen Center, 151 East Street, Nederland.
