BVSD Notifies Parents and Staff re: Dome Wildfire Impacts on School Operations and Activities

BOULDER, CO – The message below is being emailed to all BVSD staff and families.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: All BVSD Staff and Families:

BVSD has been notified by Boulder County Emergency Operations fighting the Dome Wildfire that, as a part of a fire fighting strategy, power is being shut down in much of the City of Boulder. Schools affected include: Boulder and New Vista high schools, Nederland Middle/Senior High, Casey Middle School, Columbine, Flatirons, Foothill, Gold Hill, Jamestown, Nederland, University Hill and Whittier elementary schools. These schools will continue to have telephone service.

BVSD is cooperating with local agencies. At this point, schools will dismiss at their regular time. However, parents may pick up their students early if they wish. BVSD school buses will run on their regular schedules.

PLEASE NOTE: Students of families living in evacuated areas will not be bused to an evacuation center but will be held at their school for parent pick up.

SCHOOL ACTIVITIES: The following reflects cancellations for Friday and Saturday:

• All afterschool care at the above schools is cancelled.

• All Casey, Centennial athletics and activities both home and away are cancelled for Friday.
• All  Boulder High onsite activities including the haunted house are cancelled for Friday and Saturday. 
• The Boulder High 4 pm football game at the NAAC will be played as scheduled; Saturday’s home football games are cancelled. 
• Boulder High soccer practice will be relocated.  Location and time TBA.
• The Fairview High football game scheduled to be played at Boulder High this evening will be rescheduled for Saturday, time and location TBA.
