Evacuated residents from the Cold Springs Fire can start to return home – Wednesday, July 13

NEW: Residents of the Saint Anton Highlands and Falls Pointe neighborhoods will be allowed to return to their homes at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13 and remain.

Other residents within the burn perimeter will be allowed temporary access to their homes from either 7-9 a.m. or 9-11 a.m on Wednesday, July 13, depending on neighborhoods listed below.

Residents’ Access to Burn Area:

Homeowners and residents in areas impacted by the Cold Springs Fire will be briefly allowed into the fire perimeter on July 13 in order to inspect their property, remove spoiled food, and gather personal effects for the next few days.

In order to accommodate this short-term access for residents, a majority of fire operations will be temporarily suspended or shifted within the fire perimeter to safely allow resident access. In order to maintain a safe level of fire operations, residential fire access will be split into two groups:

  • View: Cold Springs Fire Resident Reentry Map for July 13 ONLY
    • Residents living to the south of the blue line on the map are to go to the intersection of Hurricane Hill and Ridge Road and can be inside the fire perimeter from 7-9 a.m. Residents entering the southern section of the fire perimeter must access Hurricane Hill via Highway 119. All residents are required to leave the way they entered.
    • Residents who live along Cold Springs Road west of the intersection of Ridge Road, including Cold Springs Road, Hummer Road, Big Jack Court, Hoosier Court, Wolftongue Road, and Sherwood Road (north of the blue line on the map) will have access through a checkpoint located approximately 400 yards east of Peak to Peak Highway on Cold Springs Road. Residents will only be allowed inside the fire perimeter between 9-11 a.m. All residents are required to leave the way they entered.The deputies will let you in and they’ll check your name. And then you need to leave again.

Residents who live in the 2600 – 5300 block of Ridge Road, Thunder Ridge Road, Conifer Road, Cougar Run, Alpine Vista, Shady Hollow, Shady Hollow Court, Rocky Knob Lane, and the 2300 block of Cold Spring Road can enter through Cold Springs Road or Summer Road at 9 a,m. and will be allowed to remain, as all fire operations will move west of the Saint-Anton Highlands and Falls Pointe subdivisions.

After 11 a.m., ingress and egress into the Saint-Anton Highlands and Falls Pointe subdivisions will only be via Summer Road. There will be a hard closure of Boulder Canyon west of Summer Road as fire operations continue.

Trash and Spoiled Food Disposal: The Nederland Transfer station will be accepting spoiled food, general trash, and recyclables and is open for extended hours from 8 a.m.– 6 p.m., Wednesday, July 13 to Sunday, July 17
