#NCARFire update: shelter closing, animal/pet pickup, and trails update

The evacuation shelter at East Boulder Community Center is closing at 6 p.m. The Humane Society of Boulder Valley is open until 7 p.m. tonight for evacuees to reclaim their pets, and will open again at 8 a.m. Monday. Large animals at the Boulder County Fairgrounds may be picked up 24 hours per day. The Emergency Operations Center Call Center, 303-413-7730, is closing today at 6 p.m.

Several trails to the north of Skunk Canyon are now re-opened to the public. Trails in the fire area remain closed. Updated information on trail closures is available at OSMPTrails.org. The city will assess any damage to trails and open space over the next several days.

Please note, while the evacuation of the immediate area has been lifted, we are asking residents to remain vigilant as fire officials do not anticipate fully extinguishing the fire for several days. Smoke from the area may be visible for the next several days. Please do not call 911 to report the fire.

Please continue to follow this Boulder Office of Emergency Management page for updates.
