Winds expected to continue through day

Boulder County is currently experiencing sustained winds of 30 to 50 mph. Gusts have been been between 60 and 70 mph, with one report of 90 mph.

Power outages are being reported across the county. Electric providers are aware of the issues and are working to respond as quickly as possible. If you are an Xcel Energy customer, here are several ways to report outages:

  • Xcel Energy mobile app available on iOS and Android
  • Online at xcelenergy.com/out
  • Text ‘OUT’ to 98936 to report an outage, or text STAT to the same number to check the status of a power outage.
  • Call 1-800-895-1999 and follow the prompts—the automated phone reporting system lets customers report outages in less than 60 seconds. Once the cause of the problem is identified, the system or an Xcel Energy representative will provide customers with an estimated restoration time.

According to CDOT, Hwy. 93, which had been closed, is open again for travel. Motorists are advised to use caution.

City of Boulder parking garages have been impacted. Exit arms at the garages have been raised and will remain open so individuals can leave these facilities. The city will bill you later using license reader capabilities.
